For a very long time I was very tired that it always took ages when opening PDF-files. I believe it was starting from version 5 of Adobe Acrobat reader that everything suddenly went in slowmotion, even on fast machines.

After a couple of Google searches I found Foxit Reader from Foxit Software which completely can replace Acrobat Reader while opening the PDF files so fast you hardly have time to blink. Foxit maintains a range of PDF related products, but I only use the reader which luckily is totally free. The current version is 2.1, but at the moment I'm sticking with version 1.3 which is also the version that the screendumps shown here are from.

If you're tired of waiting for your PDF documents to open, then try installing Foxit Reader - if you don't like, you can always uninstall it, but I certainly don't think you will be disappointet.
